A 33-year-old woman from South Trinidad fears for her life and her four children, three of whom are living with her.
Her fears became more of a reality yesterday on the heels of Monday’s incident where Kemba Olufemi’s ex-lover Lloyd Logan, 60, tried to shoot her and then used the gun to beat her mercilessly on her head.
After the attack, Logan drank poison in the car park of Tropical Plaza, Pointe-a-Pierre, and later died at hospital.
Quick work by police officers resulted in the arrest of four men, who had just carried out an armed robbery on an elderly couple in Barataria, yesterday.
The victims, aged 67 and 77, were at their Fourth Street home, around 11:30 am, when three men, one armed with a knife, entered the premises and announced a holdup.
The men proceeded to rob a couple of cash and jewellery, valued just over $13,000.
While the suspects escaping, one of the victims managed to call 999, initiating an immediate response from police officers.
After fleeing gunmen from his Maloney Gardens home town, Akino Suya was still tracked down by them, followed to the St Helena branch of KFC and shot dead by two men.
According to reports, the shooting took place around 10.30 pm while the fast food outlet at St Helena Junction was filled with customers. Eyewitnesses told police two men entered the restaurant and walked towards Suya, who was standing in the line waiting to place his order. One of the men drew a gun and fired at him. Suya was shot five times.
