UNC Senator Gerald Ramdeen, who has been detained along with former attorney general Anand Ramlogan in a legal fees kickback scam, was taken to a Medical Institution at 12:30 PM.
Ramdeen, who has been in police custody since Wednesday morning after surrendering to officers of the Anti-Corruption Investigations Bureau, complained of feeling unwell just before noon.
An electrical blackout at the San Fernando General Hospital left patients hungry and in tears on Thursday.
The hospital which accommodates more than 750 patients went dark around 1 pm. Before the blackout, patients were told that electrical works had to be done and there will be a disruption in supply between 1 pm to 7 pm.
When the Guardian visited the hospital around 5 pm, the corridors on the lower floors were in complete darkness. Visitor Rajesh Maharaj who went to Ward One said, "You need a torchlight to go in there.
The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) is advising members of the public that vehicular access to the Port of Spain General Hospital on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th March 2019 will be via the Mortuary Gate on Belmont Circular Road.
The main entrance on Charlotte Street and maternity gate on Queen’s Park East will be closed.
The NWRHA says that access will only be granted to emergency vehicles and private vehicles transporting persons with medical emergencies.

President of T&T Registered Nurses Association (TTRNA) Idi Stewart described the situation at the health facility as one which had reached “crisis point.”

The baby came seven days late but when she finally arrived on Christmas morning, her mother Candice Baptiste decided to call her Melody.
Baby Melody was one of four babies born on Christmas Day at the San Fernando General Hospital.
In an interview, Baptiste said her labour lasted for two days so when she finally brought Melody safely out, she was ecstatic.
“I came in on Sunday night because the baby was supposed to be here a week ago. I feel relieved that she is OK and I look forward to going home,” Baptiste said.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) and the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) has agreed to construct a new 540 bed patient tower to replace the now decanted Central Block of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
The ministry shared the information today Registered Nurses Association (TTRNA) and the Medical Association (TTMA) at the ministry's head office, Port of Spain.

Port-of-Spain East Member of Parliament Marlene McDonald has been rushed to hospital to undergo medical tests.
Initial reports had appeared to suggest that McDonald had suffered a stoke just after 1pm this afternoon but Minister of Communication, Stuart Young confirmed that it was not so.
Young told CNC3 that McDonald was feeling unwell and as a precautionary measure she went to the hospital where medical checks are being conducted.
He said that at this stage, thankfully, it does not appear as though she suffered any stroke or heart attack.
