Three charged with stealing over $250,000 from factory

Two brothers and a socially displaced man are expected to appear before a Couva Magistrate today, charged with factory breaking and larceny, which occurred on Sunday 8th July, 2018, in the Couva district.

Maxwell Augustine, 22 and Stephon Augustine, 28; both of Perry Street, Perseverance; along with Ramnanan Goolcharan, 53, of no fixed place of abode; were arrested by officers of the Couva Criminal Investigations Department (CID), during an anti-crime exercise on Thursday 12th July, 2018.

The manager of a flour mill and feed production factory at Point Lisas, Couva, reported to the police that he discovered a door to the factory open and several items, valued at $254,750, missing on Sunday 8th July, 2018.

Most of the items have since been recovered by officers.

The men were jointly charged by PC Visham Ramoutar, of the Couva CID, on Monday 16th July, 2018.
