Three men were held and two firearms, and a quantity of marijuana and ammunition seized by police, after an anti-crime exercise was carried out in the Champs Fleur and Tunapuna districts, earlier this morning.
Inspector Vetus Hernandez supervised a party of officers attached to St. Joseph Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Area West Task Force, in the exercise, which took place between 2 am and 7 am.
During the exercise, officers executed a search warrant at the Mt. D’or Road, Champs Fleur home of a 33-year-old detainee.
There, they discovered one Ruger P-94DC pistol loaded with a magazine containing 17 rounds 9mm ammunition, along with 30 grammes of marijuana, hidden under a pillow in a bed. In a separate incident, two brothers, ages 27 and 20, of Upper Fairley Street, Tunapuna, were arrested after officers executed a search warrant at their home, and found one Keltec P11 pistol along with two magazines containing 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 100 grammes of marijuana.
The items were found inside a wardrobe at the house.
All three men were arrested and conveyed to the St. Joseph Police Station, pending further enquiries.
