A teenager who intentionally threatened a police prosecutor has been arrested, charged and expected to be brought before a San Fernando Magistrate.
The 19-year-old man from Suchit Trace in Penal was charged on three counts -possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking; threatening to kill a police officer and escaping lawful custody.
Police said at about 6.45 am on Sunday, PC Coomansingh was on patrol at the Namdevco Market Place, along SS Erin Road, Debe, when he observed a man calling out to another individual he recognised as a police officer.
The accused was allegedly seen pointing at the victim, a police constable, while gesturing and shouting, “Oye! You is the Prosecutor from the San Fernando Court! I will kill you!”.
The police constable raised an alarm and PC Coomansingh intervened.
He identified himself to the accused, and proceeded to search the teenager, who violently pulled away from the officer and ran a short distance away.
PC Coomansingh caught him and cautioned him once again and continued frisking him.
In the right front pants pocket, the officer found and seized 9.4 grammes of marijuana.
