Five persons were arrested and three firearms, ammunition, and a quantity of marijuana were seized during an anti-crime exercise yesterday.
The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Curtis Paul was conducted between 1:00 am and 6:00 am on May 21st by officers attached to the St. Joseph Police Station.
According to police reports, during the exercise, officers proceeded to a house at Lower Dookiesingh Street, St. Joseph where they executed a search warrant.
The search resulted in officers discovering one Glock pistol, loaded with a magazine, containing eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Four suspects: three males and one female, ranging in ages from 16 to 41-years-old, were arrested in connection with the find.
Officers also executed a search warrant at the Green Street, Tunapuna home of a 30-year-old man, where they discovered one Glock pistol, loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, hidden in his vehicle.
The officers found one kilogramme of marijuana hidden in a chicken coop. The drug has an estimated street value of $10,000.
The suspect was arrested in connection with the find. In a separate incident, officers also proceeded to a bushy area along Old Train Line, St. Augustine, where they found one revolver, loaded with two rounds of ammunition. Investigations are ongoing.
