Princes Town MP Barry Padarath is accusing Education Minister Anthony Garcia of jeopardising the education of students at the Princes Town East Secondary School.
In a release issued today, Padarath said several calls on the minister to intervene and address a number of electrical and structural issues at the school have all fallen on deaf ears.
Padarath said he was “disheartened but more so angry that despite his representation as well as the agitation by students and parents alike, no work has been done at the school."
The MP added that it appeared that the Minister of Education was asleep at the wheel since on several occasions, when matters raised about schools and the general well-being of the education sector the minister seemed unaware of what is happening.
The MP called on the minister to take a more hands on approach to what was happening at the nation’s schools and stop burying his head in the sand.
The Princes Town East Secondary School was among three schools that did not reopen at the beginning of the new school term on Monday.
