Officers commended for foiling robbery with violence

Four officers attached to the Southern Division have been commended for their work in the foiling of a robbery with violence which occurred in Tableland on April 27th, 2019.

Sgt. Sankar, PC King, PC Mohammed and PC Ramlal, were today commended by Senior Superintendent Zamsheed Mohammed, at the Southern Division Divisional Headquarters in San Fernando.

On April 27th 2019, the officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress on Naparima Mayaro Road, Tableland, when they observed four men armed with firearms exiting the premises.

The officers called on the men to stop and drop their weapons.

The suspects pointed their weapons in the direction of police officers, who then returned fire.

One of the suspects suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to the Princes Town Health Facility where he succumbed to his injuries.

One revolver containing six rounds of ammunition was recovered, along with a quantity of cash and jewelry.

Two of the assailants, 22-year-old Nicholas Alexander and 18-year-old Josiah Bobb were arrested and charged in relation to the offence.
