Five foreign nationals are expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The accused were arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Erin district, over the weekend.
Robert Martinnez, 30, of the Dominican Republic, and Michael Herrera, 27; Angel Bravo, 24; Adrian Arzolay, 23; and Roger Maijas, 23; all of Venezuela, were arrested by officers of the Erin Police Station, on Saturday 14th April, 2018.
While on mobile patrol, along Los Iros Beach Road, Erin, officers had cause to stop a red Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with five male occupants.
The vehicle and the men were conveyed to the Erin Police Station where a search was conducted.
The search resulted in officers discovering and seizing two extended magazines loaded with two rounds of 9mm ammunition, hidden under the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
Immigration Division officials were contacted and confirmed the four Venezuelans are in the country illegally but that the national from the Dominican Republic was in the country legally.
