A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of Daniel Villafana and is scheduled to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court, today.
Richard James aka ‘Richard Cummings’, of Diego Martin, was charged with murder on Friday, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore Paul.
On Monday 18th March, 2019, at 11:30 pm, 22-year-old Villafana, was leaving his workplace along Gaston Street, Chaguanas, when he was approached by a gunman who shot at him.
The victim was rushed Chaguanas Health Facility, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Subsequent investigations led to James’ arrest by officers attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 3, on Thursday 4th April, 2019.
Investigations were supervised by Inspector Corrie, and charges were laid by WPC Knight, of the HBI Region 3.
