A Princes Town man who uttered a forged Guardian General certificate of insurance, has been fined $1800 or serve four months’ hard labour, after appearing before a San Fernando Magistrate yesterday.
Ramchan Ramdass, 62, of Perry Young Road, Princes Town, pled guilty to the charge of uttering a forged document, when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine, at the San Fernando 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 14th May, 2018.
The charge follows a report made by Ramdass to the Mon Repos Police Station, of a road traffic accident he was involved in along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, on Saturday 17th March, 2018.
Whilst conducting enquiries, it was discovered that the insurance certificate was fraudulent.
Ramdass was subsequently arrested and charged by WPC Navita Ramsawak, of the Mon Repos Police Station, on Friday 4th May, 2018.
