RECIPE: Chocolate Molten Lava Cake

With Valentine’s Day around the corner and on a weekday, we decided to feature recipes that don’t only scream love but that can be made in under an hour! Both of our savoury and sweet recipes are perfect for two, extra-decadent and ready in under an hour!
 
CHOCOLATE MOLTEN LAVA CAKE
 
Mini lava cakes are cakey on the outside with a luscious flow of decadent, rich chocolate in the middle. It's the perfect irresistible dessert for two.  Bonus: They can be made in less than half an hour—that’s completely doable for a weekday date night.
 
Prep time: 10 mins
Bake time: 12 mins
Total Time: 22 minutes
Yields: 4 to 6 cakes
 
INGREDIENTS
 
6 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate,
chopped
115 grams unsalted butter
31 grams all-purpose flour
60 grams confectioners’ sugar
⅛ teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
 
DIRECTIONS
 
1 Spray ramekins or a muffin pan with cooking spray and then, dust with cocoa powder; set aside. Preheat oven at 425°F.
 
2 In a pan over medium heat, melt chocolate and butter until mixture is completely smooth. Alternatively, microwave the chocolate in 30-minute intervals until melted.
 
3 In a small bowl, whisk flour, sugar and salt.
 
4 In a separate small bowl, whisk eggs and egg yolks together.
 
5 Add flour mixture and eggs to the melted chocolate. With a spatula, combine.
 
6 Spoon the batter into the prepared dishes.
7 If using ramekins, bake for 12 mins. If using a muffin pan then, bake for 10 minutes. The sides should look firm and the middle, soft.
 
8 Let cool for 5 mins before carefully inverting them onto a plate.
 
9 Garnish with ice cream, whipped cream, powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. Serve warm.
