Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has made good on his promise and has initiated legal action against Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal and a UNC councillor over allegations linking him to corruption.
A statement by the office of the prime minister says that having been advised by his attorneys that he has legal recourse, Dr Rowley has instructed his attorney to file a suit for libel against Dr Moonilal and UNC Chaguanas Alderman Marisa Ramlogan.
Now, this legal action comes even as the prime minister has officially written to the financial intelligence unit and the commissioner of police requesting an investigation into claims made by the Oropouche east MP.
But the prime minister is making it clear that he is not using the offices of the attorney general or commissioner of police for his personal matters.
